The Art of Stillness: A Yin Yoga Journey

A 2-Hour Yin Yoga Workshop in London Fields, E8

Description:
In a world that’s always moving, sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply be. The Art of Stillness: A Yin Yoga Journey invites you to slow down and step into a space of quietness where healing can unfold naturally. In this workshop, we’ll explore the profoundly restorative practice of Yin Yoga—where stillness and surrender become powerful tools for releasing tension, calming the mind, and reconnecting with the body.

This journey isn’t about perfect poses or pushing through discomfort; it’s about finding peace in the present moment, letting go of what no longer serves you, and allowing the body to relax into what it truly needs. Whether you're new to Yin or a seasoned practitioner, you’ll leave feeling grounded, peaceful, and deeply at ease.

What to Expect:

1. Setting the Tone (10 minutes)
We’ll start by settling into the space and taking a few moments to check in with ourselves. The energy will be soft and welcoming. Together, we’ll set an intention for the practice.

2. Grounding & Letting Go (20 minutes)
We’ll begin with simple, grounding postures—like Supta Baddha Konasana (Reclining Bound Angle) and Child’s Pose—to gently ease into the practice and drop into the body. You’ll feel the support of the earth beneath you, holding you as you release any tension you’ve been carrying and let the stillness begin to sink in.

3. Yin Yoga: Moving into Stillness (30 minutes)
Here’s where the magic happens. You’ll be guided through a series of Yin postures—held for 3-5 minutes each. The poses are simple but deep. We’ll stretch into areas of the body that store emotion and tension—hips, lower back, and heart. With each breath, you’ll soften and deepen, giving your body the space to release. You’ll be encouraged to stay with the discomfort without judgment, finding peace in each pause.

4. Breathing Deeply, Connecting Within (20 minutes)
We’ll shift gears a bit with some gentle breathwork—Box Breathing or Alternate Nostril Breathing—to calm the nervous system and bring the mind into a more centred space. From here, we’ll transition into a short meditation, allowing the breath to anchor you in the present moment and deepen your connection to the stillness within.

5. Restorative Poses & Soft Integration (20 minutes)
We’ll finish the practice with Legs Up the Wall or Supported Savasana—simple, restorative poses that allow your body to fully integrate all the release and healing. You’ll have space to truly relax, feeling the body soften and the mind quieten. There’s no need to do anything. Just allow yourself to rest.

6. Closing & Reflection (10 minutes)
As the practice winds down, we’ll come together to reflect on our experience. You’re welcome to share if you feel called or simply sit in silence, honouring the space we’ve created together. It’s a beautiful way to close the journey, acknowledging the stillness and peace you’ve cultivated.

Why You Should Join:

  • Release Tension: Yin Yoga is all about surrendering, allowing you to release physical and emotional tension that’s been holding you back.
  • Slow Down & Breathe: In our busy lives, we rarely give ourselves permission to just be. This workshop is a chance to reconnect with that space of stillness, peace, and presence.
  • Deep Healing: Yin helps to open up areas of the body where we often hold stress and stored emotions. You’ll leave feeling lighter, more centred, and more connected to yourself.
  • Reconnect with Yourself: Through the stillness of each pose and the gentle nature of the practice, you’ll deepen your connection to your inner wisdom and your body’s needs.
